It was a Bronx Bombers wedding for the books.
Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. married fiancée Alondra Russy over the weekend in Miami with some of his current and former teammates in attendance, according to photos on Instagram.
The newlyweds were seen smiling in group photos posted by Cristina Barnea, the partner of free-agent relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman, who played for the Yankees from 2017-2022.
The photos featured Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo and his wife, Emily Rizzo; free agent pitcher Luis Severino and his wife, Rosmaly Severino; shortstop Gleyber Torres and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Rodriguez; free agent third baseman Josh Donaldson and his, fiancée Briana Miller; free agent third baseman Gio Urshela and his wife, Danna Urshela, and right fielder Giancarlo Stanton.
The newlyweds wore white while guests at the nuptials wore black.
Cortes and Russy said “I do” in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by palm trees, candles and a white flower arch, according to photos on social media.
The ceremony also featured violinists and a performance by Cuban musician El Chulo.
“Everything is FUNNIER, when you’re with your friends,” Rodriguez wrote on Instagram while Barnea added in the comments, “An unforgettable night.”
Cortes explained at the end of the season that he and Russy planned to get married in both Miami and Puerto Rico, with the latter serving as the honeymoon destination.
Cortes proposed to Russy in July 2022 during MLB All-Star Weekend.
“All-Star week fulfilled two of my dreams: pitching in an All-Star game and proposing to my best friend,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
