I will drop everything to fix burger emoji

How cheesy.

On Sunday, the internet got into an intense debate about burger emojis.

It all started when writer Thomas Baekdal tweeted a photo of two hamburger emojis with an incendiary comment.

I think we need to have a discussion about how Google's burger emoji is placing the cheese underneath the burger, while Apple puts it on top pic.twitter.com/PgXmCkY3Yc

You see, some burger emojis have the cheese below the patty; others have the cheese between the lettuce and tomato; a few have the lettuce at the bottom or no cheese at all.

Apparently, this is a hot-button issue for quite a few Twitter users.

“Cheese belongs on top. What are we? Heathens?” tweets @jenna. Burger enthusiast @teroterotero agrees, but observes that since the “lettuce must be insulated by the tomato,” both Apple and Google were “wrong.”

More Twitter users weighed in on more phones’ and platforms’ burgers. Some defended putting the lettuce under the patty, while others retaliated that, actually, the tomato should go on the bottom.

The argument strayed from cheese placement to sesame seed count to the proper function of mayo in the sandwich’s construction.

Things got so heated that on Saturday morning, Google CEO Sundar Pichai jumped in with a peace offering.

With any luck, he will address tech blogger Louis Gray’s very important point: “I think we can all agree these are both unacceptable without more bacon.”
